Hello! You’ve found the home of Elle Morrill on the Internet. You may know me as a startup founder/employee, angel investor, VC partner at XFactor Ventures, Sequoia Scout, Y Combinator alumna, Twitter persona, podcast interviewee, lover of Plow on Potrero Hill, PNW native, Denver transplant, or something else.
However we are connected, I’m glad you’re here.
I pride myself on being accessible to the world, and you can always reach me directly with an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
What I Write About
The idea of separating myself into a professional persona and a personal one has always been problematic to me. And so, if you subscribe to this newsletter you’ll find a mix of everything from stock analysis to reading recommendations, startup commentary to pizza and gardening projects. You will see a lot of pictures of my dogs, my travel, and my family. I’m an integrated and whole person here on the Internet, as much as I am offline (and this isn’t always easy or perfect for me btw).
You could say this is a “lifestyle blog” but as you read, you’ll find my life style is not about the Instagram photos and the likes I can collect there. It’s about ideas. It’s about my journey embracing my “off script” life choices, my ambition to be a great investor in myself first above all other projects, and how that’s going so far. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a little bit of yourself in the stories I share and we can be fellow travelers in this dynamic adventure of life.
Evolution of This Newsletter
In 2022, I decided to make Substack the main place for all my essays, ramblings, newsletters, and thoughts. I’m going through the process of migrating ~15 years of archives over from DanielleMorrill.com and migrating subscribers from several newsletters, my Twitter following, Goodreads following etc. to a single audience so that I can keep in touch with the amazing people I’ve met over the years.
In 2020, this newsletter started as A Ticker A Day with a simple but ambitious goal: analyze every publicly traded company on the US stock market, and make a decision whether to invest. Since then, those posts have evolved into a more general investing newsletter, analyzing companies and overall portfolio strategy. I will continue to release investment analysis from time-to-time, and this is available for $10/month or $100/year and includes the full archives.
You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox. For any paid post, I write a free teaser so you can decide if it’s the one you want to upgrade for.
I don’t take upgrades/downgrades personally, and I appreciate your support. Your patronage funds dog treats for Emo and Taco, gardening supplies, and my addiction to matching pajama sets.
Join the crew
Be part of a community of people who share your interests. Paid subscribers can join the reading community to like, comment, and discuss each post. They also have access to all the spreadsheets, detailed investment analysis, and other content that I paywall (usually if it required extensive hours of research, analysis, etc but I’m too lazy to publish an actual book about it).
